Standard Pins
What sample pins are compatible with the MX1 and MX2 robots?Â
18mm pins with a standard SSRL base. Pins with copper jackets are recommended, as they are easier to load into cassettes and pucks.Â
If you are using SSRL cassettes, SPINE-style and ALS (Advanced Light Source) pins cannot be used, as they will cause the robot to jam.Â
SPINE pins are accepted ONLY if you are using AS (Australian Synchrotron) type pucks.
Where do I get pins?
Hampton HR4 work in both cassettes and pucks. (please check)

Mitegen Goniometer Base Type B3-R work in both cassettes and pucks. (please check)

Where can I get pucks and cradles?Â
Contact MX staff to order puck sets. Each set contains 8 pucks, a shipping cradle, and a long pin to fasten pucks into the cradle.
Crystal Positioning Systems
A complete loading and shipping toolkit (strongly recommended for new robot users) is catalogue number CP-111-020 (this includes one cassette) from Crystal Positioning Systems (http://www.crystalpositioningsystems.com/ ). Additional cassettes (without pins) are catalogue number CP-111-011.
When ordering cassettes users can specify a cassette ID such as mylab01, mylab02, etc., that will be engraved onto the top of the cassette and this helps users and staff to easily identify cassettes.
