MX3 Home page
MX3 will be completing commissioning during 2025, with limited shifts available for Merit beamtime in 2025 (12 days in 2025/2 and 18 days in 2025/3).
Currently (March 2025), the beamline has limited shifts for "Expert User" access (email Rosie Young, youngr@ansto.gov.au for more information)
MX3 beamtime will run as stand-alone proposals in 2025, with the aim to roll MX3 into CAPs in 2026.
Beamtime will be awarded in 24-hour blocks, and MX3 will have sample throughput in 2025/2 equivalent or better than MX2, so please consider this when putting your application together– you need to have enough samples to fill 24 hours of beamtime.
Experimental capabilities will be coming online in a phased approach, so please consider this when completing your proposal.
Phase1 (2025/2nd round): Robot+Goniometer “standard MX” + In-tray screening
Phase2 (2025/3rd round): Fixed target SSX, In-tray collection, Injector SSX
Phase3 (2026/1st round): Laser activated time-resolved SSX
