Collecting a Dataset
Once you have screened your crystal and determined the optimum collection strategy, you are ready to collect your data!
Standard exposure for the Eiger is 10 degrees per 1 second, so if you are collecting a 180 degree wedge, it will take 18 seconds.
Open the Collection tab in the QEGui Eiger_collect_tab.
Make sure that the Ready to Collect circle is Blue. If it is Red, check the Diagnostics tab on the QEGui.
Fill in the Crystal Description details (not mandatory, but advised). You can change the size of the cross hair to measure the crystal size, see Crystal crosshair for instructions. CX users- fill in the chemical formula.
If you have gone through the Screening and Strategy the collection tab should already be ready with all the correct details for the optimum data collection. Otherwise, based on the results from the crystal screening, fill in the Input details for your collection.
Attenuation - if you have any overflows increase the attenuation. If your data is weak, decrease the attenuation
File prefix - make sure you sample has a name. If the Autoname sample box is ticked, it will be named with the puck and pin name.
Folder - this is where the dataset frames will be located
Total exposure - exposure time for your dataset. Standard is 36 s.
Start angle - at what angle do you want your dataset to start at?
Wedge - how many degrees do you want to collect over. Standard is 360 degrees.
Distance - how far back the detector is from the sample. Minimum distance will be on the start of experiment email. For CX collections, it should be 105 mm for MX1 and 110 mm for MX2
Formula - the approximate chemical formula of your sample
