Variable Position Experiments
Automated data collection for variable position experiments is available through the “Variable position” tab in the Beamline Controls GUIs. Horizontal and vertical lines are possible, as are grid scans.
Below are some examples of possible scans.
Left - Vertical scan. Step = 10, Vertical movement = 40
Middle - Horizontal scan. Step = 5, Horizontal movement = 25
Right - Grid scan. Step = 5, Vertical movement = 25, Horizontal movement = 25
Important information:
A screening experiment must be performed before starting the variable position experiment.
Align your crystal face-on (the script will determine the start angle based on the wedge).
The calculations to determine motor positions from the step size and movements required round down, so if you are not getting all the positions you want, increase the movement requested.
A csv file is written which includes the run labels and relative positions of all datasets.
