Access Cards

I’m arriving on a public holiday, where should I go to collect my room key and access card?

Your room key will be pre-activated by the User Office. Please proceed to the Security desk located inside the main entrance of the synchrotron building.

If the desk is unattended or the automatic doors are locked, Security can be contacted via::

 P: 8540 4120

M: 0437 103 891

I need early access to the Australian Synchrotron for prep work on an upcoming experiment. How do I arrange this?

Please get in touch with the beamline you will be working on in advance. They will liaise with the user office to determine preparation time needed.

I have recently changed my name; do I require a new access card?

Yes, please contact the user office to update your access card when you are next onsite.

When and where do I go to collect my access card?

Access cards may be collected from the User Office between the hours of 08.30am – 04.30pm Mon-Fri.

This process will usually take between 5-10 minutes.

To ensure a smooth collection of your card, you will be required to present one of the following forms of I.D:

Passport

Current Drivers Licence

Institution of Education Card

Please ensure, ahead of beamtime, that your online inductions have been completed successfully as the User Office will be unable to issue a user access card without successful completion.

You will need to visit the User Office in the NCSS Building to obtain your user access card.  Your card must be issued before you gain access to the Synchrotron Building.

Please also note that you will only gain access to the Synchrotron Building for beamtime if you are listed on an active Experiment Authorisation form.

If arriving on a Friday night or weekend for beamtime, and you require a temporary user access card then please make contact with the User Office in advance.  We can then ensure a temporary user access card can be arranged for the user over that time.

In order to have a permanent user access card arranged, you must visit the user office at the next available business day.

Please Note: Once you have your access card issued, this will be your permanent card when visiting the Synchrotron for future beamtime.

You will need that card to gain access to our facility.

Any future beamtime dates will be automatically loaded onto your access card.

Your beamtime dates are loaded onto your access cards as one day before and one day after the specified dates of beamtime.
