96 Wellplate (in transmission)
An experiment specific spreadsheet, to be used as sample list, will be sent out to you prior to your scheduled beamtime.
Use the following spreadsheet as an example for 96 wellplates. → Example Document
For liquid samples in standard 96 wellplates, please send us the plates with your samples prefilled, sealed and labeled under the following guidelines:
Plate Dimensions
Please use standard wellplates with the following dimensions to accomodate the mounting in our sample holder at the beamline:
85.5 mm x 127.8 mm
with a 5 mm lip around the bottom.
Sample preparation
- Prefill your samples so each well is about half filled with sample volume.
- Seal your wellplates with samples (we discourage the use of tape seals and prefer heat or pressure sealing).
- Test the seal of your wellplates before sending the samples to the beamline. The wellplates will be mounted vertically at our sample setup (see here for details) and a good seal is required to avoid leakage. We have seen significant problems with sealing systems at elevated temperatures (even 37 ºC) and we recommend you test this in advance.
Labeling
- Label your wellplates clearly! The label must be big enough to read and find and resistant to any eventually necessary experiment conditions (heating, cooling, freezing, solvents)
- The labeling on the wellplate MUST be the same as the label in the prepared google spreadsheet (see description above).
Exceptions
On a case by case basis, there might be exceptions to the way we can run your samples in 96 wellplates. This can include us adding reactants / solutions to plates on site just prior to mounting the plates and running the samples or specific sample preparation that needs to be freshly done before the measurement. Please inquire about these opportunities and arrange these ahead of your beamtime in conversation with the beamline team! Contact information can be found here.
