The XAS beamline employs hard X-rays, spanning 5 - 35 keV. Please see the XAS page on the Australian Synchrotron website here for more details on the XAS photon delivery system. The energy range is divided into three ‘modes’ covering the low (5-9 keV), medium (9-19 keV), and high (15-31 keV) energies, which allows access to most of the periodic table.

Elements in Red are analysed in Mode 1, Blue are analysed in Mode 2, and Yellow are analysed in Mode 3.

Copper can be analysed in Mode 1 if only XANES is required

If users would like to analyse edges in different energy modes, they MUST submit a separate proposal for each mode. We recommend that separate proposals have the same content but different sample tables, and be designated ‘Part 1,' ‘Part 2,' etc.
