Important information for your upcoming Australian Synchrotron visit
Visa Information
For information on Australian visa requirements, please visit the Australian Government Immigration and Citizenship website.
To obtain a visa support letter for your upcoming beamtime, please proceed to the Australian Synchrotron User Hub and select the ‘Visa Documentation’ tile:

To create a Visa Support Letter, select the applicable EA (Experiment Authorisation), click the 'Download Visa Support Letter' button and save the PDF to your computer.
If you are attending consecutive EAs, remember to download a letter for each visit.
Requesting accommodation at the Australian Synchrotron Guesthouse
To apply for accommodation for your upcoming beamtime, please proceed to the Australian Synchrotron User Hub and select the ‘Accommodation’ tile on the User dashboard.
Next select the ‘New Application’ button at the top of the page and follow the prompts to create and submit an accommodation request.
Please note:
Users based at organisations in New Zealand and Singapore are entitled to complimentary accommodation at the Australian Synchrotron Guesthouse for the nights of their beamtime, plus two additional nights.
The number of complimentary rooms is based on beamline:
MX Beamlines: Entitled to 2 x standard rooms for nights of beamtime, plus two additional nights
All Other Beamlines: Entitled to 3 x standard rooms for nights of beamtime, plus two additional nights
Arrival Information
During business hours
The Australian Synchrotron User Office is situated within the National Centre for Synchrotron Science building and is open Mon-Fri 08.30am – 04.30pm.
Upon arrival, please proceed to the User Office for the issuing of a site access card and to collect your guesthouse room key. Please provide a form of photo identification at time of collection.
After-hours arrival
If you are arriving outside of business hours, please proceed to the security desk, located within the main entrance of the Australian Synchrotron building to collect your room key. Please provide a form of photo identification at time of collection.
Please note: Security are unable to issue site access cards. Please contact the User Office prior to departure for information on pre-printing a site access card, for collection at time of arrival.
