There are three two inductions that need to occur before you can fly solo at the beamline or use the synchrotron facilities:

  1. General A general facility induction completed online through the Portal before arriving at the synchrotron for your beamtime

  2. A beamline specific induction conducted by the supporting beamline scientist at the beginning of your beamtime

  3. (Optional) Inductions into laboratory spaces (e.g. chemistry, PC2) as indicated on your proposal and Experimental Authorisation (EA)

    1. Inductions performed by Clare Scott

    2. Normally held at 9:30am each morning*

All users listed on an experiment authorisation (EA) form should attend at the beginning of an experimental run to complete the beamline induction.

Note: If you require access to the chemistry, biochemistry or cell culture labs, you will need to attend a separate induction to the beamline specific one.  These occur at 9:30 am Monday to Friday, or can be arranged at an alternative time if required.  These are run by the Lab Manager, Clare Scott (clares@ansto.gov.au).

*COVID-19 has impacted this norm. Instructions to organise laboratory inductions will be provided upon notification of successful beamtime and / completion of the EA.
