Capabilities at the Medium Energy X-ray Spectroscopy beamline 2 (MEX2) will be rolled out over coming rounds.
Round 1 2023
Energy Range: 2.4 - 3.3 keV
Maximum beam size: 4 x 2 mm (horizontal x vertical)*
Estimated scan duration: XANES ~30 mins, EXAFS ~60 mins
Measurement modes: drain current
*Beam size can be reduced from the maximum using horizontal and vertical slits.
Please note ex situ samples ONLY. Samples must suitable for measurement under vacuum and at ambient temperature. Conductive samples are strongly preferred.
MEX2 uses sample holders compatible with XAS. For more details please follow this link - X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Potential Users MUST CONTACT BEAMLINE STAFF and discuss the proposed measurements prior to submitting their proposal.
Please see the ANSTO website for information on the MEX1 and MEX2 beamlines. To aid Users in planning their experiments, the “glitch maps” for the two sets of Si(111) crystals (phi = 0 and phi = 30) installed in the MEX1 double crystal monochromator (DCM) are shown below.
