The XAS beamline employs hard X-rays , spanning across the range 6.5 3 - 31 keV (“Mn to Sb”). Please see the XAS page on the Australian Synchrotron website here for more details on the XAS photon delivery system. The energy range is accessed via three two ‘beamline modes’ covering the low lower energies (6.5-9 keV aka Mode 1), medium (9-3-19 keV aka / Mode 2X) , and high higher energies (15-31 keV aka / Mode 3Y) energies. Note that in order to setup optimise a beamline mode, or to switch between modes, approximately one day of user downtime is required. Therefore, all Mode 1 X experiments are scheduled back-to-back, followed by all Mode 2 Y experiments, then all of Mode 3each user cycle.

If users you would like to analyse edges in different energy beamline modes, they you MUST submit a separate proposal for each mode. We recommend that separate such proposals have the same content but different sample tables, and be designated ‘Part 1,' ‘Part 2,' etcor ‘Mode X’, ‘Mode Y’, in their proposal title. |
