The XAS beamline employs hard X-rays across the range 6.3 - 31 keV (“Mn to Sb”). Please see the XAS page on the Australian Synchrotron website here for more details on the XAS photon delivery system. The energy range is accessed via two ‘beamline modes’ covering lower energies (6.3-19 keV / Mode X) and higher energies (15-31 keV / Mode Y). Note that in order to optimise a beamline mode, or to switch between modes, approximately one day of user downtime is required. Therefore, all Mode X experiments are scheduled back-to-back, followed by all Mode Y experiments, each user cycle.

If you would like to analyse edges in different beamline modes, you MUST submit a separate proposal for each mode. We recommend that such proposals have the same content but different sample tables, and be designated ‘Part 1,' ‘Part 2,' or ‘Mode X’, ‘Mode Y’, in their proposal title. |
