Solutions and Fluids
Most solution scattering is now performed on BioSAXS, which is optimised around solution scattering.
For samples involving liquids, SAXS/WAXS IS supporting:
Fluids, gels loaded in capillaries. This includes sealed capillaries for bulk analysis, and capillaries with liquid-liquid interfaces. These can be measured at ambient temperature, or with various forms of temperature control.
Fluids/gels in sealed 96-well plates measured in transmission (i.e. beam through plate and sample). These can be measured at ambient temperature, or with various forms of temperature control. They often are used in a high-throughput style of experiment.
Flow-through experiments with certain specialist sample cells, especially for grazing incidence and/or electrochemistry.
For samples involving liquids, SAXS/WAXS IS NOT supporting:
Flow-through capillary experiments (typically for in-situ studies). This is now handled by BioSAXS. Case by case exceptions would be considered if there are compelling technical reasons requiring unique SAXS/WAXS capabilities (e.g. photon energy, q-range, anomalous scattering).
Fluids/gels in loaded in 96-well plates but measured in capillary by automated sample handling. This is now handled by BioSAXS (see Coflow Autoloader).
