Data Errors Vs. Modelling Chi2
All data retrieved from the Australian Synchrotron – ANSTO SAXS/WAXS beamline comes with two standard errors (2SE) for each data point. If you require your data to be in 1 standard error (1SE), you just need to divide the error by two. This is important if you carry out modelling which still heavily relies on the chi2 value of the fit. Check the table below to assess the quality of your model based on the errors associated with your data.
Data Errors | Good Fit - Chi2 value |
|---|---|
1SE | 1 |
2SE | 0.25 |
Note: If you use the data straight from the beamline (2SE) for modelling and want to compare/publish the accepted chi2 value (based on 1SE) just multiple by 4 the value obtained.
