Data Errors Vs. Modelling Chi2

All data retrieved from the Australian Synchrotron – ANSTO SAXS/WAXS beamline comes with two standard errors (2SE) for each data point. If you require your data to be in 1 standard error (1SE), you just need to divide the error by two. This is important if you carry out modelling which still heavily relies on the chi² value of the fit. Check the table below to assess the quality of your model based on the errors associated with your data.

Note: If you use the data straight from the beamline (2SE) for modelling and want to compare/publish the accepted chi² value (based on 1SE) just multiple by 4 the value obtained.
