Laboratories
There are a number of sample preparation laboratories available at ANSTO Australian Synchrotron.
The Chemistry Lab is our main sample preparation laboratory catering to all beamlines at the Synchrotron. Some equipment in this lab requires additional training.
Specialty Labs cater to more specific experiment requirements and sample preparation (such as cell culture) and must be booked in advance.
In order to access any laboratories onsite, you must have an approved EA and valid laboratory inductions - See Chemistry Lab Access and Specialty Lab Access for more information.
Make sure to discuss your on-site sample preparation requirements (if any) with your beamline scientists well in advance of your beamtime.
Note: All chemicals you will be using and supplied by the laboratories must be listed and approved on the “sample, chemical and gasses spreadsheet” attached to your EA.
Dedicated laboratory staff are available during business hours Monday-Friday and can assist with the following:
Laboratory inductions & lab safety
Specialist equipment, training and bookings
Chemical stock queries (ChemAlert), labelling and lab waste information
Provision and advice - Equipment, PPE, some chemicals, consumables & labels
Import permits & sample shipping advice
Note: Specific sample preparation queries should be directed to your beamline scientist
