MEX1 Cryostat
MEX1 Cryostat
To tailor your experiment, please contact the beamline at as-mex@ansto.gov.au before submitting a proposal requiring the cryostat
Beamline | MEX-1 |
Temperatures | 8 - 298 Kelvin |
Cool down time between sample changes | ~ 20 mins |
Modes | Fluorescence and transmission |
Energies | >9 keV good spectra < 9 keV TBA |
Sample holders | Plastic, aluminium 6061 or copper |
Number of samples per holder | Standard: 6 x 7 mm diameter pellets Customised: contact us |
Example data:
From room temperature (298 K) to 8 K. Peak intensity grows as temperature cools.
Sample stick:
Cryo stick. This gets inserted into the cryostat
Top of the cryo stick, which forms a seal to maintain the sample well environment
The copper tip of the cryo stick has a heater and temperature sensor mounted within
Sample holders:
Plastic
Metal
(Left) Aluminium6061 cryo tails and sample plates. (Right) Copper cryo tail and sample plates. Sample plate hole diameter ~7.2 mm for 7 mm diameter pellets
Other Al6061 cryo tails with different plate fittings
