You can view your diffraction frames with the program ADXV, which automatically updates to the latest collection. This needs to be open on the right most computer if you are at the beamline, or on the dedicated …_ADXV window if working remotely through Guacamole.

Viewing a previous data collection

  1. Navigate to the correct folder in the file viewer window (you may need to click on ../ at the top to go back a folder)

  2. Click on the master file and then click “load”

  3. Click on the first frames file then click “load”. Your frames should now be displayed on ADXV.

  4. You can play the frames by clicking on the forward arrow, or skip through them by clicking on the skip arrow.

Zooming in

There are several ways of zooming in on your data frames. All of them are accessed by right clicking on the position on the frame where you want to zoom in.

3-D - Shows a 3-D wireframe. Scrolling will change the size of the zoom box and holding the right mouse button and dragging will change the scale.

Pixels - shows a pixel view. Scrolling will change the size of the box.

Values - shows the detector count values. Useful for checking relative peak heights or background values. Scrolling will not do anything.

Changing settings

Colour scheme - grey scale, heat map or rainbow are optional colour schemes. They can be changed by selecting the desired colour in the ADXV control window.

Resolution rings - you can turn on resolution overlay rings to show on your frames by going to edit->properties in the control window, then turning resolution rings to “on”.
